BUILT TO LAST
LOCKRACK is built to last. For a kayaker, surfer or stand up paddle boarder, our surfboard and watercraft carriers are a must. Our high-grade components are rust resistant with an anodized aluminum base and designed and produced in South Africa. The anti-rattle roof rack arms and telescoping fit ensure a snug and secure mounting to allow for various widths, helping to prevent crushing damages from conventional strapping systems. The ballistic-grade plastics offer durability as well as a lightweight, aerodynamic design to help maximize your fuel efficiency when driving. The surfboard and SUP LOCKRACKS are equipped with a rubber rail protector to keep your boards safe during transportation. Most importantly, they are simple to maintain and LOCKABLE with a waterproof key!
- LOCKRACK systems fit all leading makes of roof rack bars (Thule, Yakima, etc.)
- Easy-to-install with fittings and mounts for quick modification and attachment
- A standardized base and interchangeable arms (width, height) accommodate all types of boards and watercraft
- Lost or damaged keys can be easily replaced if key numbers are retained
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Are the arms interchangeable on the same base?
Yes, all the arms are interchangeable, allowing you to customize for your particular needs.
- Does one base fit all?
No. Although the arms do expand allowing for different sizes, very different craft may need wider or narrower bases.
- Will my LOCKRACK rust?
No. Lockracks are made from high grade anodised aluminum. The internal locking mechanism is made from stainless steel.
- Can I order replacement keys?
Yes. Each key has a number on it. New keys can be ordered should your’s wear out or get lost. Used correctly, the keys will not wear out easily.
- What is the correct way to insert the key?
Once in securely, give a slight turn clockwise. It is important that tightened arms will need a slight bit of inward pressure on the arm to help and make the key release easier and prevents key wear.
- How do I maintain my LOCKRACK systems?
Like your car, LOCKRACKs are exposed to weather continually. Occasionally, spray and wipe bars and arms and add a little lubrication oil to keep them operating optimally. Do not lubricate the arms with surf wax as this collects in the locking mechanism.
- Can you buy a LOCKRACK system that does not use a key?
Yes, all the size bases are also available in a no key option.
- Will my surfboard/craft be at risk of falling out when driving?
No, used correctly with the widest point always between the arms, your craft is unable to move forward or backwards. The shape of the arms also prevent upward movement.
- Can the arms be removed?
Yes. A major consideration when designing the LOCKRACK was wind resistance/drag leading to increased fuel consumption. When not in use the arms are easily folded down or just as easily removed completely. This leaves just a low profile streamlined base on the roofracks with very little wind resistance.
- Will LOCKRACK fit my roofracks?
LOCKRACKS will fit most roofracks with grooves in them. There are a number of attachment options for roofracks without grooves.
- Why are there different shaped arms?
These are designed to accommodate a variety of water craft of varied sizes and stacked boards.
- Does the LOCKRACK system make noise?
No. There have been no reports of this as the aerodynamic shape causes little wind turbulence. However, where users have removed the rubber from the groove of their roofracks to install LOCKRACKS and not replaced it, a whistling noise has been heard. This is easily remedied by simply replacing the roofrack rubber after installation.
- Why is a LOCKRACK better for transporting my surf ski?
When loading a surfski into a LOCKRACK it is placed upside down on the base. The top deck is reinforced and because no straps are tightened on the hull, no pressure is applied which often causes cracking.
