FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, all the arms are interchangeable, allowing you to customize for your particular needs.

No. Although the arms do expand allowing for different sizes, very different craft may need wider or narrower bases.

No. Lockracks are made from high grade anodised aluminum. The internal locking mechanism is made from stainless steel.

Yes. Each key has a number on it. New keys can be ordered should your’s wear out or get lost. Used correctly, the keys will not wear out easily.

Once in securely, give a slight turn clockwise. It is important that tightened arms will need a slight bit of inward pressure on the arm to help and make the key release easier and prevents key wear.

Like your car, LOCKRACKs are exposed to weather continually. Occasionally, spray and wipe bars and arms and add a little lubrication oil to keep them operating optimally. Do not lubricate the arms with surf wax as this collects in the locking mechanism.

Yes, all the size bases are also available in a no key option.

No, used correctly with the widest point always between the arms, your craft is unable to move forward or backwards. The shape of the arms also prevent upward movement.

Yes. A major consideration when designing the LOCKRACK was wind resistance/drag leading to increased fuel consumption. When not in use the arms are easily folded down or just as easily removed completely. This leaves just a low profile streamlined base on the roofracks with very little wind resistance.

LOCKRACKS will fit most roofracks with grooves in them. There are a number of attachment options for roofracks without grooves.

These are designed to accommodate a variety of water craft of varied sizes and stacked boards.

No. There have been no reports of this as the aerodynamic shape causes little wind turbulence. However, where users have removed the rubber from the groove of their roofracks to install LOCKRACKS and not replaced it, a whistling noise has been heard. This is easily remedied by simply replacing the roofrack rubber after installation.

When loading a surfski into a LOCKRACK it is placed upside down on the base. The top deck is reinforced and because no straps are tightened on the hull, no pressure is applied which often causes cracking.
